Biography
Professor Sadegh Tabejamaat is the head of the Amirkabir Combustion Lab at Amirkabir University of Technology in Iran. He obtained his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Tohoku University in Japan in 1998. He was a visiting professor at the University of Toronto from 2007 to 2008, and was the Head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering of Amirkabir University of Technology between 2014 and 2018. He presently serves as the Chair of the Iran Combustion Society. Professor Tabejamaat’s research focuses on experimental and numerical studies of flame dynamics, with a special interest on hydrogen combustion and MILD combustion and their applications in industrial combustors.
Abstract
Hydrogen is molecularly the simplest but, the most important fuel. Its unique features cannot be compared with any other fuel. It seems like an ideal fuel in all respects. However, its utilization has important problems in terms of production, storage, transfer and combustion. On the other hand, the environmental problems, global warming and the need for renewable resources have put us on the path to turn hydrogen into a usable fuel. Therefore, we must build the future world on the basis of hydrogen, and solve its problems. In this presentation, we discuss the importance of hydrogen compared with other fuels. We show that a hydrogen carrier like ammonia can hardly satisfy our need for hydrogen. The numerical and experimental results show that ammonia alone as a fuel is not satisfactory. The numerical and experimental results of the combustion of hydrogen and hydrogen together with ammonia, bio-fuels and hydrocarbons are presented. We will talk about important challenges and opportunities for using hydrogen.
