Recently, Prof. Yuyang Li from School of Mechanical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University was awarded the 2022 Energy and Fuels Rising Stars by Energy & Fuels, a prestigious international journal in the field of energy research.

Energy & Fuels has established the annual recognition of Energy and Fuels Rising Stars since 2021 to honor early- and mid-career researchers (EMCRs) who have made significant contributions to their respective sub-fields of energy research. At the time of nomination, rising star candidates should be in their independent research careers and 12 years or less after the award of Ph.D. degrees. Each year, no more than 2 scholars will win this award for each sub-field of energy research. Prof. Yuyang Li is the first scholar in our university to win this award.

Prof. Yuyang Li obtained his PhD degree from University of Science and Technology of China in 2010 and joined School of Mechanical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2015. He won the National Excellent Young Scientists Fund in 2016. His research interests include carbon neutral energy and power research, low-carbon gas turbine combustion technologies, combustion kinetics and dynamics, novel combustion technologies, and so on. He has published more than 170 journal papers on Accounts of Chemical Research, Combustion and Flame, Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, etc., with a citation number of more than 4000 times and an H-index of 37. He has been awarded the State Natural Science Award (2nd Grade), the 16th China Youth Science and Technology Award, the 14th Wuzhonghua Outstanding Young Scholar Award of the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics, the Research Excellence Award and the Bernard Lewis Fellowship of the Combustion Institute, the Young Investigator Prize of the Asian-Pacific Conference on Combustion, etc.
