During the 2013 summer vocation, teachers and students worldwide (NTNU, University of Nantes, Purdue University, KTH, Kyushu University, University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, etc.) actively participated in various summer schools held bythe School of Mechanical Engineering (ME), SJTU.
2013 “Sustainable Energy” International Summer School
2013 “Sustainable Energy” International Summer School was held at ME, SJTU from July 28 to August 6, 2013. Professor Huang Zhen, on behalf of SJTU, welcomed around 100 students from over 20 universities. Academic scholars and experts held various lectures and delivered speeches on the subject of “sustainable energy” under the chair of Professor Wang Ruzhu. Student study teams showcased learning results and gave fabulous presentations on the last day of summer school.This event not only provided a great learning and communication platform for the global Power & Energy talent but also displayed SJTU’s development mode “high starting points, a solid foundation, strict requirements, and keenness on practice and innovation”.
2013 Kyushu University “CAMPUS Asia” Summer School
11 postgraduate students and 3 teachers from ME, SJTU visited Kyushu University from August 17 to August 29, 2013. As the host of the 2nd “CAMPUS Asia”, the summer school attracted 92 students from 7 Asian countries. Kyushu University arranged students with internships at Japan’s largest geothermal power plant and iron plant, various laboratory studies and team presentations. In addition, the host organized Japanese cultural tours to broaden foreign students’ horizon. Students benefited from advanced knowledge-based systems on energy and environment, meticulous attitude and mode of thinking from this leading university in Asia.
2013 SJTU-KTH “New Energy System” Summer School
SJTU and KTH signed the collaboration agreement of “SJTU-KTH Joint Centre for Energy and Materials for Energy” in November 2012.The “2013 SJTU-KTH New Energy System Summer School” was held against this background. It was held in ME, SJTU from August 24 to September 1, 2013. It invited 27 professors and PhD from KTU and 29 professors and PhD from SJTU. The topic of summer school was a case study for a Sustainable Energy system in Chongming Eco-Island combining technology and system studies. Students on both sides had a better understanding towards new energy equipment and system through this event.
