In a joint effort between Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Mechanical Engineering and Politecnico di Milano Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Marco BOCCIOLONE (Chair of POLIMI ME Department) and Prof. XI Lifeng (Dean of SJTU ME School) led a workshop on 27 April in the field of mechanical engineering.

Scholars from both schools presented research on topics ranging from robotics to automotive manufacturing. Each presentation was followed by commentary and open discussions. 

In the afternoon, the POLIMI delegation visited Institute of Robotics, Institute of Automotive Engineering and 3D Printing Lab at SJTU School of Mechanical Engineering. 

The workshop included an information session on Joint Master’s and PhD programs given by Prof. Gaetano CASCINI and Prof. Bianca Maria COLOSIMO. Two POLIMI postgraduates, currently studying at SJTU shared their thoughts and learning experience in China. 

Since the SJTU-POLIMI agreement went into force in 2012, more than ten students benefited from joint degree programs and semester exchange program. In 2016,two universities signed Double PhD agreement.

The one-day workshop brought SJTU and POLIMI faculty members closer in knowledge exchange and exploring possibilities for further research collaborations.
