Congratulations! Beijing won bid for hosting it in 2018 with Professor Ping Cheng, from ME-SJTU as chairperson.
On the 14th International Heat Transfer Conference (IHTC) held in Washington D.C. from August 7-13 in 2010, Professor Ping Cheng from ME-SJTU, on behalf of China Heat Transfer & Mass Transfer Committee, declared the application for hosting the 16th International Heat Transfer Conference. After heated discussion, the application was approved by International Heat Transfer Committee. Beijing was awarded 2018 International Heat Transfer Conference with Professor Ping Cheng as chairperson.
IHTC is held every four year. Convention requires that consecutive two conferences can not be held in countries from one continent. Japan gained the right to host the 13th IHTC in 2014. Therefore, it is indeed difficult as well as cherishable for China to win the bid for 2018 conference, since it broke 56-year convention of International Heat Transfer Committee.
