As college students, there are many books in our dormitory, but the shelves in the dormitory can't accommodate so many books. Many college students choose to put books on the desk, however, it is not so easy to store such a large number of books on the desk. Our team members proposed many possible solutions, and we combined the characteristics of these ideas to design a retractable book end, hoping to solve the problem.
Our team want to design a new kind of book end to achieve two main goals.
The first is to comprehensively consider the existing book ends on the market, improve a new structure applied to our book end, to provide users with a safer, more stable book storage tools.
The second is to change the conventional way of using book ends, through some special mechanical structures to make it easier for users to take or put books from the book end.
Our team used SolidWorks software to design a book end with a unique structure, and selected appropriate materials to improve the stability of the overall structure while keeping it as light as possible.
Differ from the normal book ends, we use a hand wheel on the baffle to control the length of the book end, to achieve the objective of taking or putting books from the book end. In addition, the transmission structure designed by us combines bolt and nut, it will help the book end to lock, so that the book end won’t be damaged when quite a few books are stored.
