A-28 Ender Dragon

项目概述

The Ender Dragon aims at showing the beauty of the mechanism and try the best to display the figure of the Ender Dragon, which is the main character in a globally popular game named Minecraft. In our project we try to use more mechanism structure and       as few motors as possible, as a result we choose gears and other power transmission like crank slider to transfer the power from only one motor. Besides the structure of power transmission, we also attach importance to the appearance of the Ender Dragon and successfully show the Ender Dragon’s appearance in our model.


项目目标

There are nearly two main expectations in our project. The first expectation is display the feature of the dragon vividly, not only its appearance, but also its moving feature. So we need to first build its outer model and then design the transmission inside to simulate the wings’ action as vividly as possible. The second expectation is to show the beauty of the mechanism, so we need to put most driven components inside the body and use more rods or gears to transfer the power rather than add more motors, which makes the inside design difficult. There are also other expectations like add more funny functions to make the model more interesting, such as spaying the “dragon fire” or giving out light at the dark place.


项目成果

In our final project, we realize most of the expectation. We build a vivid Ender Dragon model in Solidwork and complete the inside power transmission design. We mainly use the gears to transfer the power from the motor and control the action of the wings. To better showing our idea, we also learn to build soft line in Soildwork, which is used to control the action of the neck and the tail of the dragon. In the simulation, our structure can bear the most loads when we define the material. With all the project completed and can move in solidwork as we expect, all we need is to wait for the 3D printed components and assemble the true dragon.
