项目概述

Nowadays we often have many digital devices, and therefore, we have lots of cables to charge them. So it’s often the case that our desktop is messy with those cables and adapters, which occupy lots of space and annoy us lot. Our project is to design an improved type of cables container. According to our market survey, we have found that the current bag or a box designed to pack all of our cables is not convenient. Another kind of product is a charge box which can make our desktop more neat and clean but they don’t have enough space to store different cables. So we hope to design a cables container that is both convenient to pack cables and easy to store different kinds of cables.


项目目标

 The cables container mainly meets the following requirements. First it must be convenient to pack and pick up ones we need. Second, it can hang on the dose of our desks or somewhere else to make full use of our desktop space. Third, our desktop is so restricted so it’s better to be foldable. Besides, it must satisfy different storage requirements and avoid cables winding together.

In order to meet the need of sorting different types of wires and better distinguish convenience, containers are designed to be composed of various types of boxes and wire clips, among which also exist big boxes to hold power strip bars with different sizes. Those structures of the containers are placed into two layers, which can help organize the charging cables and save place.

Besides, to satisfy the requirement to save space, containers have the structures which can be folded and expanded for more storage space. A desktop connector structure is designed to further save the desktop space.

 For the outer part of the containers, it will be semi-open so that It will be convenient to put the patch board in place.


项目成果

The cables container designed is about 200mm×200mm×182mm in size. It can be divided into 5 parts: the main part, the foldable design, more detailed design, customization design and the connection part. For the main part, we combine the function of the cables container and the power strip bars to save more space. For the detailed design, we use four small holes to allow the cables to stretch outside to connect your devices. And after finishing charging, if you are not willing to pack the cables, you can just wind them on this coil and fix it on the this little structure. For the foldable design, we can open the box on the top and then plug the adapters into the strip bars. This design saves more space and we prepared enough space for different adapters. So when we are charging our devices, we can only see several cables stretching out of the box and our desktop becomes more neat. For customization design, we designed two boxes on the top, one drawer and one box on the bottom. The space inside the drawer is split into 5 parts to meet different store requirements or to just classify the cables. For the connection part, we designed a simple but efficient structure(similar to the structure for fixing strip bars) to connect this container to anywhere. And it’s easy to unfix and connect.
